Meanwhile, the people standing on the floor are still shivering. It’s basic physics, and it’s a nightmare for anyone trying to keep a changing area comfortable. That’s why we stop trying to heat the air. Instead, we use short-wave infrared emitters.

Dealing with the height
Here is the tricky part: the higher you mount a heater, the more power you lose before the heat actually reaches the floor. To fix this, we don’t just throw more power at the problem. We use high-wattage elements paired with focused reflectors. These basically “aim” the heat, pushing it down in a concentrated beam so it doesn’t just vanish into the rafters. We also set these up in zones. You don’t want the whole room blasting at 100% if only two people are using it. The reality of the install
You’ll need a solid power drop and some heavy-duty mounting—those reflectors have some weight to them. But keep an eye on the “throw” distance. If your ceilings are truly astronomical, even the best infrared heater will lose its punch. In those cases, we usually suggest a hybrid approach. A low-temp convection system keeps the pipes from freezing and takes the edge off the chill, while the infrared does the heavy lifting of keeping people warm.
