Most people think bathroom heat lamps are just for keeping your shoulders warm while you get ready in the morning. But we looked at them differently. We designed these infrared lamps to do a lot more than just provide a bit of warmth—they’re actually built to hunt down moisture and kill mold before it ever gets a chance to move in.
How it actually works
Here is the thing: most heaters just warm up the air. That’s fine, but it doesn’t do much for the damp spots on your tiles or walls. We use short-wave infrared (SWIR). Instead of heating the air, these rays dive straight into the surface of your wet walls. It forces the water to evaporate fast. When you flip the switch, the lamp basically pushes the moisture out of those porous materials. Dry walls don’t grow mold. It’s that simple.
The nerdy stuff (and a warning)
These lamps pack a punch. They run at a high wattage to make sure your walls hit the right temperature quickly, and we use quartz glass so those infrared rays can get through without any interference. But wait—you have to check your ventilation. Since these lamps push water off your walls and into the air very quickly, your exhaust fan needs to be able to keep up. If your fan is too weak, you’re not actually getting rid of the humidity; you’re just moving the water from your walls up to your ceiling.Make sure your fan can handle the load.
Setting it up and keeping it clean
We kept the connectors standard, so these should slide right into your existing fixtures without a headache. Just one heads-up: these get hot. Really hot. Don’t install them right next to plastic trim or PVC pipes, or you’re going to have a bad time. Also, keep an eye on the quartz tubes. Between the steam and the soap residue, they can get a film on them. Give them a quick wipe-down every few months. If the glass gets cloudy, the rays can’t get through, and you lose that mold-fighting power. Keep the glass clear, and the lamp does the hard work for you.
