We built this electric caravan heater around one simple idea: you need serious warmth in a tiny space. The heart of it is a halogen element, running at 2500W off a standard 230V supply. It’s a lot of power packed into a small frame, which is exactly what you need when space is tight. And the size? We kept it compact, around 300mm long. That means it slips right into the standard spots in your caravan without you having to rework the whole interior. It just fits. No fuss, no wasted space.
Inside the shell.
The heating element lives inside a quartz tube. Quartz is brilliant for this—it handles the shock of heating up and cooling down fast, and it throws out that infrared warmth efficiently. Inside, the halogen filament is sealed in gas, which protects the element and keeps the heat steady over time. The outside of the tube has a special coating, too. It helps manage the surface temperature, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally burning nearby materials. Then there’s the connector—the R7s. It’s a simple bi-pin design that carries the current, holds the tube securely, and makes swapping it out a matter of minutes.
Why it works so well in a caravan.
When you’re on the road, you want heat that kicks in immediately. Halogen heaters do exactly that. They don’t waste time heating the air first; you feel that warmth the second you turn it on. It’s small enough to slip under cabinets or into tight voids, which is a huge plus. But here’s the thing—with that much power in such a small tube, the area right around the heater does get warm. So you need to give it a bit of breathing room. Make sure it has clearance and ventilation so nothing nearby gets too hot. For anyone working on these, it’s a straightforward, easy-to-service setup. That R7s connection means you can replace the tube in minutes, and the coated quartz design holds up well, even in humid or dusty conditions.
