We’re talking extreme heat, over and over again. When these go into a high-end piece of industrial gear, there’s zero room for error. One tiny insulation leak? That’s how you fry an expensive control board or trigger a ground fault that kills your entire production line.
It’s a nightmare. And it’s totally avoidable.
That’s why we don’t just “spot check.” Every single tube that leaves our shop goes through a full withstand voltage (Hipot) and insulation resistance test.
The reality of heat stress
Here is the thing about physics: things expand and shrink when they get hot. When that happens constantly, you get micro-cracks in the ceramic or quartz insulation. You can’t see them, but they’re there. If the insulation weakens, current starts leaking.
To stop this, we push our tubes. We hit them with a voltage way higher than what you’ll actually use in the field. Why? Because we’d rather force a weak point to fail in our lab than have it blow up in your machine.
No “lemons” allowed
Some shops do sampling—maybe they test 5% of a batch and call it a day. That doesn’t work for semiconductor gear. A 5% sample rate is basically just gambling with your uptime.
We test 100% of them. Every. Single. One.
We check the leakage current and make sure the resistance between the element and the shell is exactly where it needs to be. If a tube fails the Hipot test, it goes in the scrap bin. No second chances, no “it’s probably fine.”
A quick heads-up on installation
Now, we build these tubes to be incredibly stable, but they aren’t magic. They can still be picky about moisture.
If your shop floor is humid or you’ve got liquid coolants splashing around nearby, please, make sure your wiring is sealed tight. A perfectly tested tube can’t save you if your terminal connections are exposed to gunk or dampness.
We’ll make sure the hardware is bulletproof. Just make sure your wiring is spec’d for the environment it’s living in.
